El Camino Day 3: Larrasoana to Pamplona

Hola! Buen Camino . . . as they say all the time on the path to Santiago de Compostella!

Today we are going from Larrasoana to Pamplona about 10 miles!

Today’s map . . . Taken from “Village to Village Guide, Camino de Santiago, Camino Frances: St. Jean – Santiago – Finisterre” https://www.caminoguidebook.com/about. An excellent guidebook we highly recommend !

So after yesterday’s 17.5 mile hike our muscles were a bit sore, but we were ready to go and delighted that today’s hike would be less strenuous!

Here we are! Ready for the next stage of the journey!

On our way out of town we met a man walking his St. Bernard!

Everyone we have met is very friendly and encouraging on our trip. The owner of the supermercado where we ate last night is named Olivier and had many words of encouragement and was perpetually positive!

As we were leaving town, Olivier happened to cross the bridge on some local errand and gave us some final parting words. Then another group of travelers appeared and he started all over again “Hola! Where are you from?” Yes, he must meet thousands of people and help them all!

Olivier, a store owner in Larrasoana. He himself has walked El Camino 11 times!

Today’s hike is easy . . . a relatively flat 10 miles to Pamplona, but plenty of amazing things to see along the way!

Beautiful, forested paths like this one continue to amaze us. They are full of ivy, wildflowers, and other plants. Luckily our spring allergies have not been too bad!

The hike was not all that bad, but we were still a bit weary and sore from our trip over the Pyrenees the past few days. When we got to Pamplona we were greeted, by some wonderful architecture and views.

Outskirts of Pamplona

Only about a 0.5 miles from our destination we it started to pour so we put our pack covers on.

Tomorrow we have a full day of rest in Pamplona and we will be sure to do some exploring and find out as much as we can about the city!
