2nd Day in Barcelona!

Today is our first full day in Barcelona! Make sure you check in for frequent updates!

First order of business . . . A fresh, light breakfast!

Our hotel accommodations with the rooftop pool and view of Barcelona. We’re not exactly roughing it 😉

This morning and into early afternoon we took an excellent tour with “Runner Bean” tours, which we highly recommend!

Our tour guide was informative, funny, and pretty much amazing! Enjoy the photos!

Our amazing tour guide!
Placa Reial, the starting point of our tour.
One brave adventurer!
Oranges, so many orange trees all over the city!
The Catalan flag . . . . The last movement for a free and independent Catalonia was in 2017, as our tour guide told us: “The unilateral statement of independence lasted about 10 minutes and then the political leaders of the movement were jailed for 3 years.” Covid-19 set the movement back and the fact that Spain is part of the EU so two large central government entities will not allow their independence. Our tour guide mentioned that the movement comes in waves . . . who knows when the next one will be?
Gargoyle!
If you notice the last sign it indicates the “Camino de Santiago.” We are choosing our starting point at “St-Jean-Pied-de-Port” in southern France, which is a more popular beginning point.
Posed!

Well, after a fun tour and some other sight-seeing, we rounded off our day at a restaurant called “Gats.” We enjoyed black paella, which had clams and calamari in it! Of particular note was my fiancé’s attempt to pay our dinner bill with our hotel room key. The waitress’s appropriate response was much like ours: laughter!

So a very full day of fun in Barcelona. We are enjoying some hotel amenities and preparing for our next day of adventure.

By the way . . . I am playing flute and if you want to hear what I am practicing go here “Flute Music
