Playing the hero!

Hello folks! The response to COVID-19 in NYC continues to evolve on a daily basis. What’s clear is how unprepared the Healthcare sector was for this pandemic. NYC is now mandating that all hospitals and most Healthcare facilities have a 90 day supply of PPE minimum.

On a serious note; there are many reports from many different news sources about what to expect. One thing I would like to make abundantly clear, this emergency situation is real, people are dying from COVID-19. There are certain people who say that the COVID-19 reporting is a “hoax.” Actually, various reports can be disputed to some extent, but people who believe that the entire COVID-19 situation is unreal or staged are akin to conspiracy theorists, flat-earthers, and holocaust deniers. Many Healthcare workers I know and talk to are tired of people not taking the situation seriously. I’m not really concerned about the audience viewing this blog, but just for society in general.

One hopeful thing i have been mulling about is change. Many people say that “life will never go back to the way it used to be.” As a historian I’ve come to learn that learning from the past and living in the past are two different things. As long as people can learn from the past then they don’t need to worry about living their life longing for and wishing for things to go back to the way they used to be. It’s almost the same as not letting regrets get in the way of your decision making. Change some things about your life, then enjoy it again. We can all be heroes if we remember that!
